As an alternative you can use Multi-Line Text, where you select the area for the text to appear and then a dialog box displays all your options.
We could add a new command: Add Text (by Point). Where you select the location for the text (like the old way) and then a dialog box displays all your options (like Multi-Line Text).
Note: Add Text (by Point) will be added to FAB 3000 V8.8+ (late July 2024)

If possible could you explain why or provide an example why Old "Add Text command" was better.
FAB3000 adds text in similar fashion as AutoCAD, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDrD9nEZ9LY
