I had one question regarding gerber comparison that I would like to perform on the FAB 3000.

"So as first step I need to import 2 gerber files to the tool. I think I run into issue where we have the same layer name and the layer imported before is over-written. Is there a way to bypass this limitation besides manually change the layer name? I tried creating new job, but it doesn’t seem to help. I’m pretty fresh on this tool so would like guidance here."

Since the gerber files have the same name, there are several options:

Use Compare Jobs.

  1. Import one gerber file into FAB 3000.
  2. Create new job (menu: File / New / Job...)
  3. Import other Gerber file into FAB 3000.
  4. Run compare jobs (menu: Tools / Compare Jobs and Layers / Compare Jobs...). Here's a tutorial movie showing the             comparison, https://numericalinnovations.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/14000004920

Use Compare Layers.

  1. Import one gerber file into FAB 3000.
  2. Rename the first gerber file ( maybe add --old to the layer name like:  mygerber--old.gbr ).  Here's a link showing how to  rename,  https://numericalinnovations.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/14000014955
  3. Import second Gerber file into FAB 3000.
  4. Run compare layers (menu: Tools / Compare Jobs and Layers /  Compare Layers...)
