Compare PCB designs with 2.5 microns accuracy.

The comparison feature is primarily meant to find any PCB design differences between revisions.  Setting a standard PCB resolution like 0.025mm or 0.02mm is recommended 99% of jobs (instead of 0.0025mm), and  should give you the proper comparison results to determine any PCB design differences.

However using a very small comparison resolution (like 2.5microns) exceeds the tolerance for PCB manufacturers', and probably not as practical -- unless you have some special type of thin copper-layer etching technology or other purpose.   If that's the case, you'll need to adjust the FAB3000 database resolution.

  • Large Designs up to 1000m length.
  • Micro Designs with 1 nanometer resolution.
  • Normal Standard PCB design resolution (10 nanometers)

Note: The default FAB 3000 comparison is accurate to 0.01mm.  By changing this Database value to Micro, the FAB3000 database will be accurate to 0.0001mm.

To modify the FAB 3K database resolution:

  1. Go to FAB 3000 menu:  Setup > Options...
  2. Select the tab Misc, and change the option Workspace Extents to: Micro
  3. Press OK.

Note: This setting will require you to exit and restart FAB3000.  You should also re-import your Gerbers, ODB++, etc.
