Thanks for contacting support. Join command only works if objects are touching (like AutoCAD). However, when there are gaps, duplicate lines, etc.; then I would suggest using Join Wizard (in the Tools menu). Automatic works the best when there are multiple objects, borders, etc. If just joining a single boundary (with gaps, etc.) then Interactive can be helpful.

Lastly, if problems joining persist please feel free to submit a support ticket and attach a sample FAB3000 workspace file (*.wrk). We'll be happy to create a tutorial movie demonstrating using join - with your files.
