PCB Assembly Sheets and Documentation

To generate PCB Assembly documentation, go to menu:  Assembly | PCB Assembly Documents...


Note: The following box will be displayed, and includes all available Part Numbers for the active Job.


Assembly Steps table:

The primary feature for generating PCB Assembly documentation.  All Part Numbers displayed in the table will be included in the generated PCB Assembly documentation.  You may click any column headers to sort the entire Step table.

  • Step:  A unique step performed in the PCB assembly process.  Step numbers range from 1 to 300
  • Part Number:  Component PN
  • Package:  Component package name.
  • Type: Component type
  • Qty: Total PCB count for the specific component part number.
  • Side: Top, Bottom, Both
  • Pins: Number of component pins
  • Description: Component description
  • Refdes:  Reference designators for the specific component part number. 
  • Polarized:  Indicate if the component is polarized (Yes) or non-polarized (No). 


Note: A Step number is required to be included in Assembly documentation.  If no Step numbers are defined, they will be automatically created while generating the Assembly documents.


Defining Assembly Step numbers, 


Edit Selected Item(s)...

Select Items to edit Step numbers, etc.  When finished pressed OK.

Note: Multiple Part Numbers may be selected by holding Shift or Ctrl keys.


  • Clear ALL Steps

Removes all Assembly step values.

  • Assign ALL Steps

Automatically assign Step values utilizing the Maximum Part numbers per page.

  • Step Colors...

Assign up to 12 Assembly Step colors to use on each page.


Steps Options:

Assign values which filter the Part Numbers that appear in the Assembly Steps table.  Part numbers appearing in the Assembly Steps table will be output to documentation.

  • Board Side:  Choose which board side components appear in the Assembly Steps table, and ultimately in your Assembly documentation.  Default:  Top and Bottom
  • Component Type:  Choose which component types appear in the Assembly Steps table , and ultimately in your Assembly documentation.  Default: All Components
  • Component Polarity:  Choose  which component types appear in the Assembly Steps table , and ultimately in your Assembly documentation.  Default: All
  • Max PN's/Page:  Maximum number of Steps per Page. Default: 12

Include BOM Items:

Assign additional values to the Assembly documentation header.

  • Package Name:  Include Package names in the Assembly Documents. Default: Unchecked
  • Polarity:  Include Component Polarity in the Assembly Documents. Default: Unchecked
  • Description:  Include the Component description in the Assembly Documents. Default: Unchecked

Documentation Options...

Assign the page sizes, add component pins, ref designators and other features.  Assign the page size and other features.

  • Page Size:  Select the page size to use for Assembly documentation. Default:  B-Size (11\" x 17\")
    • Note:  When possible the minimum Page Size will be used.
  • Add Component Pins: Include Component Pins in Assembly Documents. Default: Unchecked
  • Merge Silk/Overlay Layer:  Merge silkscreen layer with Assembly Documents. Improves visibility of reference designators and other objects. Default: Unchecked
  • Add Ref. Designators:  Include Component Reference Designators in Assembly Documents. Default: Checked
  • Min. Text height:  Ignore small Reference Designators that may not be visible in the Assembly documents.  Default: 1mm 
    • Note: Set to 0.0 (to include all)
