There is a 'Save current Layer Map to a file' button but I could not locate the saved file and check its format.

The location of the folder where all Map files are saved is the ACE Installation folder under Technology.   Example:     C:\Numerical Innovations\ACE3000V7\Technology\

Note:  When pressing the Save Current Layer Map to a file, it uses the name in the pull-down (located on the right).
