Why must I fill out a form to download your software?

It would be much easier for us to simply put a public download link on our website, and not have to take the time to respond to users; however for security purposes we must verify users before we provide a download link.
Why? Our software products and website are constantly being targeted by malicious hackers/crackers; and every month we receive hundreds of fake download requests from anonymous and obscure email addresses. I hope you understand as a business, we are simply protecting our IP.
Note: Our office hours are 9:00pm to 5:00pm and we're very fast in responding to legitimate download requests (within a few hours or less).
